Who doesn’t love a good side volley? To execute a good side volley you need to combine precision, power and finesse. If you're ready to enhance your volleying skills but cant make it to the training pitch or train with teammates, Football Flick is world famous for equipment that combines passing and volleying technique for you to practise whenever you need to at home. Use these tips to help you practise and elevate your volleying.
- Invest in a Skills Trainer. The three Football Flick Skills Trainers all utilise a front ramp which is perfect for passing upwards and then practising your control or volleys. Front ramps help you to position your pass and your body correctly. Once you master a precise and powerful pass you can hone keeping your eye on the ball and striking it cleanly. Remember to practise using both of your feet.
- Increase the distance from your skills trainer. Increasing the distance of your initial pass from your Skills Trainer will help you to condition the strength of your pass.
- Train off the ball. Focus on leg strength, core stability, and explosive power to generate more force in your volleys. Do exercise such as lunges and squats to help with your strength.
- Learn and watch from the best. Ilkay Gundagon scored the fastest goal in an FA Cup final with a volley that displayed all the techniques needed. Earlier in the year we saw Gundagon amongst the first team training with their PRO Skills Trainer. Read more here.
İlkay Gündoğan, Riyad Mahrez, Rúben Dias, Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva perfect their volleys with the PRO Skills Trainer.
Remember to practise. Even if its in your back garden and on your own you can become a formidable volleying force on the football pitch with consistency and dedication Remember, who doesn’t love executing a volley so remember to have fun!
